Short and Sweet Mission Statement Examples and Templates to Attract Your Ideal Customer

Mission statements can come in all shapes and sizes – from short and sweet social media-size statements to detailed explanations to elevator pitches. In this post, you'll find examples of short and sweet mission statements and fill-in-the-blank templates to help you create your base mission statement. A statement that is the perfect size for an Instagram bio, a Facebook page description, or the home page of your website.

These statements serve one simple yet powerful purpose: to communicate who you serve and how you help them strategically, clearly, specifically, and concisely.

The more specific you are about who you are trying to serve the more likely you are to attract people who actually want what you have to offer. Which in turn, makes your job much easier. Instead of weeding through unqualified leads, they will weed themselves out before you ever have to do the work. And the more clearly you state how you help them and what transformation you facilitate the more likely people are to take action to become a lead or even a customer.

Below you'll find 3 fill-in-the-blank mission statement templates. For each statement I've provided an example of how it could be used using my own business, Anchor Design Co.!

As you get started, remember that no matter how you write your missions statement it needs to communicate these three things very clearly:

  • Who you serve
  • How you serve them
  • What transformation they should expect

Statement 1: The Help Statement

In this statement, you're literally saying who you help and how.

  • Phrase: I help (WHO) (WHAT) by (HOW) so that they can (WHAT).
  • Example: I help (DIRECT SELLERS) (GROW SUSTAINABLE BUSINESSES) by (IMPLEMENTING STRATEGIC MARKETING TOOLS) so that they can (BUILD A PROFITABLE BUSINESS THAT LASTS A LIFETIME).

Statement 2. The Verb Statement

In this statement, instead of saying you “help” people, you specifically state what you do with a verb. For example, I organize, I create, I design, I cook, etc.

  • Phrase: I (VERB) (WHO) so that they can (WHAT).
  • Example: I (CREATE STRATEGIC MARKETING TOOLS FOR) (DIRECT SELLERS) so that they can (BUILD A PROFITABLE BUSINESS THAT LASTS A LIFETIME).

Statement 3. The Doing Statement

In this brand statement, instead of leading with “I do” or “I help” or “I (verb)” you dive right into doing it by adding “ing: to the verb at the beginning of your statement. For example: Instead of “I create” you'd say, “Creating.” Instead of “I help” you'd say, “Helping.” Instead of “I cook” you'd say, “Cooking.”

  • Phrase: (VERB-ING) (WHO) (WHAT) by (HOW) so that they can (WHAT).
  • Example: I help (DIRECT SELLERS) (GROW SUSTAINABLE BUSINESSES) by (IMPLEMENTING STRATEGIC MARKETING TOOLS) so that they can (BUILD A PROFITABLE BUSINESS THAT LASTS A LIFETIME).

The most important thing your missions statement should be is clear. Don't add filler words and fluff just to make it sound longer or more important. If you confuse you lose, so keep it simple so that your ideal customer can easily find you!
